Hi there!

Thank you for visiting our website and whilst on this page I’d love to introduce myself, Frances Gillespie, founder of Frances Gillespie HR who simply Loves Hospitality and everything about it.

Being a fast-paced pragmatist who really enjoys working with people, I soon found after taking my first job in the industry having stumbled into it walking along the Embankment of the River Thames! that I had found a career for life.

Working my way up a well-trodden path of front-line service then onto pub and restaurant management whilst taking that knowledge into training and developing others through finally to becoming a Head of HR with such names as Slug & Lettuce, Capital Pub Company and Metropolitain Pub Co enabled me to solve people situations – In an Instant.

I could see hospitality management were frustrated and constrained by employee situations that got in their way and held back fast paced growth. What made it worse was not getting the right mixture of practical commercial and legally watertight HR advice which was fit for purpose.

And I knew I could make a real difference. So, having completed a master’s degree in HR at the University of Westminster in 2013, I decided to start out on my own and bring my brand of HR to more people. As they say, the rest is history.

Today, the industry faces perhaps its biggest and toughest challenge yet, from the dwindling talent pool of chefs and trained staff, to squeezed margins due to rising costs all whilst trying to entice customers to part with their hard-earned cash as the cost-of-living impacts.

Now more than ever, I am helping my clients successfully navigate these challenges, by providing fit for purpose outsourced HR Consultancy right across the spectrum from tricky people situations to recruitment, disciplinary and grievance procedures through to staff retention and much more.

In recent times to keep up with what is happening and what might happen I provide additional advice on Overseas Sponsorship Licenses, Redundancy and TUPE advice. This is supplemented with mentoring and training for hospitality HR people, guidance and practical support to in-house HR administrators together with the necessary legal support.

But it goes deeper than that.

I’m privileged to hold the position of trusted advisor to my clients. I’m a sounding board for CEOs, Directors and Senior Management.

Listening to their people’s problems and what’s causing them frustration and stress. Asking open and clarifying questions together with making positive suggestions. They appreciate being able to speak candidly and confidentially so that we can find a suitable, workable and fair solution, so they can do what they do best “Grow their business and increase sales” – In an Instant.
